雪松Deodar Cedar

One of the largest trees in the park. Its crown forms a broad pyramid, with branches spreading level and drooping slightly at the tips, so its outline is easy to spot from afar. The needles grow in tufts on short shoots, like little brushes.

Cedar resin is one of the fragrances humans have used the longest — in ancient times it was burned as incense, used to repel insects and to preserve wood. Its cones stand upright, and when ripe they fall apart scale by scale instead of dropping whole — so you often find loose scales on the ground but rarely a complete cone.
