白头鹎Light-vented Bulbul

头顶后方一块醒目的白斑，是它俗名「白头翁」的由来。这块白斑随年龄增长而扩大，幼鸟的头部则灰扑扑的，不明显。A bold white patch on the back of its head gives it the folk name “old white-head”. The patch grows larger with age; young birds have dull grey heads where it barely shows.

典型的城市适应者，在华东的公园、行道树和小区绿化中数量极多。杂食性，春天吃花蜜和昆虫，秋天大量取食浆果——园中许多灌木的种子就是靠它四处传播的。叫声婉转多变，一群相互应答时相当热闹。A classic city adapter, very numerous in the parks, street trees and housing estates of East China. It eats almost anything — nectar and insects in spring, lots of berries in autumn — and many of the park’s shrubs have their seeds spread by it. Its song is varied and melodious, and a flock calling back and forth is quite lively.
